The County of Northumberland

A warm welcome awaits you in North Northumberland.

Northumberland is full of castles and stately homes of all periods. Lindisfarne, or Holy Island, is half an hours drive away; as is Seahouses, where boat trips run to the Farne Islands, famed for their wild bird population and their seals. Walkers will love the unspoiled countryside and beaches and there are opportunities for fishing, horse-riding and golf in the area too.

There is a pub and a post office in Eglingham as well as St. Maurice's, Church of England. Alnwick, ten miles south east, is a busy town with many shops and plenty of history. Alnwick Castle is famous as the home of the Duke of Northumberland , the new garden and of course as the setting for Hogworts in Harry Potter. Wooler, nine miles north west, is a small market town at the foot of the Cheviot hills.
